Spark Academy offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to get their start in education through the Associate Teacher program. Associate teachers, or ATs, gain hands on experience working with seasoned teachers and administrators to build their knowledge of curriculum, classroom management, and more. As an AT you will be given myriad professional development opportunities to build your confidence and skill as an educator. Many former ATs at Spark have gone on to become lead teachers in our building.  

"Being an AT provides me with an incredibly unique opportunity to get to know almost every student in the school, and regularly interact with all of them. I work across grade levels and across subjects, so I also get to see how students perform in different areas and where they excel and where they need additional support. I appreciate that as an AT at Spark I am able to be trusted to run lessons to ensure that students are not losing out on their education when their teachers are not able to make it to school. It really makes the environment at Spark stronger because there is more learning happening, ATs are seen as teachers and not just people in the classroom, and it lets us get really good practice and experience being primary teachers in classrooms. Some ATs, including myself, are also given the opportunity to have our own pull-out groups, run after school programs, and long-term sub."
